CRATER LAKE | OREGON

Crater Lake is just one of those places you go to visit & never want to leave. Seriously, I am not sure the pictures even do this beautiful place justice. It was STUNNING. Mom, Aunt Kathy, & I arrived just as the sun was coming up over the mountains. As we drove past the lodge, I literally could not believe my eyes. The lake is HUGE & SO BLUE. It is definitely on my top ten list of most beautiful places I have ever been!

Crater Lake formed over 7,000 years ago. It was a large volcano that collapsed in on itself. In the middle of the lake, there is a mountain called Wizard Island that is over 300 acres. This island formed over time as more volcanic eruptions took place. The lake itself was filled by rain and snow melt. Since that is the only water source coming in to the lake, the water is a pure, rich blue color.  I could hardly believe my eyes, even as I stood there on the rim of the mountain.

The most incredible part about visiting this National Park was the size of the lake. Just to give you an idea, you can drive around the rim, which is a 33 mile trip. That seemed so big when I was reading it, then I saw it in real life and could hardly believe my eyes! Visiting Crater Lake was definitely worth our time and money! I would highly recommend it to anyone that is up in Oregon!
