When Zach & I first decided to get married in December, I felt a little like our anniversary might get overlooked since it was during the holiday season. Looking back, I’ve decided it is actually the PERFECT time to have our anniversary! With finals and all the end of the year activities, it is such a blessing that we have our anniversary to remind us of what is really important in life: family!
It feels like just yesterday Zach & I were living in different states & we spent hours on the phone & Skype! The weekends Zach flew home from Idaho for 48 hours were my favorite. I cleared my schedule and always planned to spend as much time as possible with him! Now, every day revolves around each other! We have had so many fun adventures together! We went on our first camping trip, spent time in South Carolina with family, discovered we both love Star Wars, played way too many rounds of Sequence, survived two semesters of school, watched all the seasons of Gilmore Girls, and finished the year with touring my mission in Peru!
I’m definitely not a marriage expert after just 365 days, but if there is one thing I have learned, it’s that a happy marriage takes lots of work and endless amounts of love. Zach and I each have to do our part EVERY DAY to make our marriage grow and last. Sometimes that means Zach cooks dinner when I am overwhelmed with a long to-do list. Sometimes that means I write a love note and leave it on the bed for him. It really doesn’t matter what the situation is, selfless love and service are key! Real happiness comes when I put God’s way above all and Zach’s needs before my own. I wouldn’t trade a singe day of our marriage for anything else in the world! Through the good days and the bad days, I am so grateful to be married to the most handsome, caring, and understanding man in the world! Zach, I can’t help but fall more in love with you every single day! Here’s to another year of adventures!
